The village of Niles has a page on its website dedicated to concealed carry questions. However, it is important to note that some of this information is outdated as the law has changed in Illinois numerous times and it doesn’t appear this page has been updated since it was written in 2013.

The Village of Niles Illinois was incorporated in 1899 and has an approximate population of 29,000. Niles has experienced a slight population loss, much like the rest of Illinois. The Village of Niles is actually the top 5th employer within the Village with such companies as Shure and Cocacola also making the list.
Crime happens everywhere, that is why concealed carry is so important in places like Niles. According to the City-Data website, Niles actually has more crime than all surrounding neighborhoods excluding Chicago and Skokie. Since 2015, crime in Niles has been trending upward. In 2019, there were 5 rapes, 16 robberies, and 15 assaults. Crime data for 2020 and 2021 haven’t been reported, though recent police reports show an Armed robbery at Portillo’s in September 2021, a Stabbing and shots fired in January of 2022, an Armed Robbery at the 7/11 in February of 2022.
