Brads Story, Using Pepper Spray in Self Defense and Being Prosecuted.

Imagine if you would, driving home from work one day, a day like any other, and suddenly without warning someone violently cuts you off. Then the person who cuts you off begins to berate you with profanities. Now imagine the person lunges into your car, you deploy pepper spray in defense of yourself, and you receive a citation for defending yourself. Well, it’s not the twilight zone, it’s Brad’s story…

Brad, a United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) member, while driving home was the victim of a road rage incident. Brad used pepper spray for self-defense and received a citation for this incident. When Brad contacted the United States Concealed Carry Association about it, the USCCA connected Brad with a criminal defense attorney.

In the above video, Brad expresses his concern and his worry. Even for the simple use of a less-lethal self-defense device, Brad was still worried he may “lose everything”. Certainly, this is a valid concern as legal bills can pile up very quickly and no doubt would cost thousands if not tens of thousands for an incident like this. Brad was hesitant to contact the USCCA about the incident, incorrectly thinking the USCCA only aids defense gun use.

In the video Brad and his wife express the relief they experienced knowing the USCCA would be on their side throughout their ordeal to defend Brad against legal action after Brad was forced to defend himself against a violent aggressor. It is sad in the world we live in, sometimes you can do all the right things for all of the right reasons and still come out with the short end of the stick. In other words, you can be the victim of a crime and then become victimized by our criminal justice system.
