What is the cost of the Illinois Concealed Carry License?

The Illinois Concealed Carry License is one of the highest cost concealed carry licenses in the Nation. The cost for the concealed carry licenses was set in the Illinois Concealed Carry Licensing Act which was passed in 2013. For example, Indiana passed a bill in 2019 to make their concealed carry licenses free. That’s right, while Illinois pays the highest fees in the nation for concealed carry licenses, Indiana residents pay nothing for their licenses.

Sec. 60. Fees.

(b) An applicant for a new license or a renewal shall submit $150 with the application, of which $120 shall be apportioned to the State Police Firearm Services Fund, $20 shall be apportioned to the Mental Health Reporting Fund, and $10 shall be apportioned to the State Crime Laboratory Fund.
(c) A non-resident applicant for a new license or renewal shall submit $300 with the application, of which $250 shall be apportioned to the State Police Firearm Services Fund, $40 shall be apportioned to the Mental Health Reporting Fund, and $10 shall be apportioned to the State Crime Laboratory Fund.

The cost is $150 for Illinois residents and $300 for non-residents.  In addition to the $150 fee for Illinois, resident Concealed Carry License, an approximate $3.50 “convenience fee” will be added at checkout when applying or renewing your concealed carry license.
